Ginger Krebs: All We Can See From Here — First Glimpse
Ginger Krebs will share an excerpted version of All We Can See From Here, which premieres in October 2022. Directed by Ginger for four dancers. Ginger invites viewers to experience this outdoor performance in two modes at the same time: up close in three dimensions, and remotely on phones, where viewers can access an aerial view, live-streamed from an overhead drone.
Collaborating Dancers: Kennedy Alexandria, Selena Lasley, Anna Goetz, and Andy Slavin.
Ginger describes: “All We Can See from Here imagines meticulous interdependence in the wake of pandemic isolation and chaos. Four dancers’ bodies merge to form interlocking shapes that can’t be divided into whole numbers – like mirrored particles shifting in a kaleidoscope. A geometric diagram on the ground designates the performance’s zone of operations, and proposes a world where resources are finite and equally distributed, and everyone commits to stay and ‘work it out’.”
About the Artist
Ginger Krebs is an interdisciplinary artist and choreographer, and a 2022 Fellow Artist in Residency at High Concept Labs. She is interested in performance and sculpture’s potential for addressing the vulnerability of bodies, especially in the face of violence and exploitation by remote or invisible actors. Oftentimes, she transforms studio practice into a laboratory, testing theories about the frontiers for capitalist colonization by studying the moment-to-moment decision-and-response process that constitutes cooperation between dancers performing her movement scores.
During her HCL residency, Ginger is developing “All We Can See from Here”, a dance comprised of equal, interlocking parts, that examines interdependence on an intimate scale.
