Jessica Anne
she/her
In the words of Jessica Anne, “A grown man eating salad out of a mixing bowl. The commemorative plate on the wall. The dust in the light. I like writing what's in front of me, things I see and hear, and set out to do. With my hands. I believe that writing is a performance, movement can be still, and sound is collaborative. My work is hybrid, multidisciplinary and an ever changing attempt to express, release and possibly end - through love and discipline - the pain. The unimaginable pain.”
The Project
Jessica Anne was a Sponsored Artist in 2016 where as a Neo-Futurist Ensemble Members, she explored the tension between fiction and nonfiction and developed a new work that wove together theatre, writing, and film.
I have been an HCL resident several times, most recently with my "newly formed trio" and our performance project, "good grief."
Jessica Anne returned 2021 through 2023 to work in collaboration with Deidre Huckabay and Mabel Kwan on the performance project good grief. Together as Newly Formed Trio, they used the HCL Lab to work with, work on, and work through grief in an open-ended and curious way. At multiple points, they invited community members and audience members to be part of their collective grieving process.
