HCL Announces 2025 Fellow Artists in Residence

High Concept Labs’ Fellow Artist in Residence program is a unique opportunity for alumni of the organization to return for an additional year of artistic and administrative support. This additional year in residence with HCL typically allows artists to shift from the exploratory phase of a project toward the public premiere of a fully-realized new artwork. Through this program, artists are able to synthesize and build on experiences from their initial residency while continuing to expand their professional networks.

HCL warmly welcomes and celebrates the 2025 cohort:

Each of these artists will receive no-cost studio access at the HCL Lab at Mana Contemporary, made possible through a venue partnership with Monira Foundation, through May 2025. Artists will also receive professional audio/visual documentation, marketing resources, and tailored additional support as needed, ranging from grant writing assistance to production support. For 2025, each Fellow will also receive a modest no-strings-attached stipend to support their project as well as the opportunity to apply for additional funding to support the premiere of new work developed through HCL residency programs.

This cohort includes artists working across a variety of disciplines including dance, performance art, composition and sound, artificial intelligence, documentary video, and multimedia.

Bradford Chin, Christopher Knowlton, Haruhi Kobayashi, and Carissa Lee were all in residence with HCL in 2024. Tirtza Even returns to the organization 12 years following her initial HCL residency in 2013.

The 2025 Fellowship program was juried by a panel of Artistic Advisory Council members, which includes arts practitioners, critics, writers, and thinkers, including many HCL alumni.
